you can lay turf from now on, as long as the

if you are purchasing pots and containers make 
sure they are frost resistant, otherwise frost

Lilies
if you haven't already done so this is time to plant 
up your lily bulbs in pots for summer flowering 
keep indoors until there is no risk of frost

 Plant Tomatoes
you can start sowing your tomatoes now on a
heated propagator or on a sunny window sill
ready for later growing in the greenhouse

Small Seeds
some seeds are very small even dust like difficult 
to sow evenly, an easy tip mix the seed with 
a carrier fine sand and sprinkle over the surface

Prune Your Roses
start pruning your roses now, concentrate on
removing dead, dying, diseased growth, and over 
crowded stems, open the centre to allow air flow
.....
Snowdrops
divide and plant snowdrop bulbs in the green as 
soon as possible because they dont like to be out
of the ground too long, if not keep dry to stop rotting

 Hardwood Cuttings
this is the last month you can successfully take
hardwood cuttings of cornus, salix, forsythia
eleagnus, roses, try later but they may not root

Cacti
re-pot using a cactus compost, but be careful of
sharp needles cacti need little water no food 
until the end of march,treat as normal pot plant

 Gladioli
for an early display put the corms into seed trays 
or boxes and place in alight warm shelf, to 
encourage sprouting before planting out

Outdoor Furniture
you may find your garden furniture is looking a
bit tatty after the winter, choose a dry day and
remove loose paint then give it a lick of paint

 Weeding
this is a good time to do a weeding blitz, in a few
weeks it will be time for feeding and mulching and
is important to have clean soil before you do that

Digging
if you want to put in a new bed or border, do it
now but avoid muddy or frozen soil, dig deep and
incorporate plenty of well rotted farmyard manure

if you have a spare patch in the greenhouse
